We, the company SKADEC, are one of the leading suppliers of sustainable air conditioning and refrigeration technology in Germany and other European countries. True to our slogan “The Green Cooling”, we have been developing and researching sustainable, high-quality and reliable chillers at our company headquarters in the Hohenlohe district of southern Germany for ten years. We work exclusively with future-proof low-GWP refrigerants such as the natural and environmentally friendly refrigerant propane (R290).
Our corporate values are sustainability, quality and reliability. We live these values in a dynamic and motivated team. We want to set an example for the future through our work in order to make this sustainable technology of the highest quality reliably available to everyone.
The name SKADEC is derived from the name SKADI and the term ECO. Skadi is known in Norse mythology as the goddess of winter, after whom Scandinavia was probably named. She is associated with strength, ingenuity and the courage to do new things. This is exactly what has characterised us since the first development steps in 2012/2013. Since then, we have specialised in sustainable refrigeration and air conditioning technology with natural refrigerants, especially systems with environmentally friendly propane (R290).
With the spin-off of our own company from the Kratschmayer Group in 2018, we have been a strong partner for saving life cycle costs and providing needs-based cooling and heating for trade and industry using energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies.
Thanks to our more than 300 motivated employees in the group of companies, we have been working for many years on the development of pioneering products in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning technology. We are particularly proud of our in-house developed controller software. By using freely programmable controllers, our development team, consisting of technicians, master craftsmen and engineers from the fields of refrigeration, control technology and software development, has been able to design innovative control strategies. The development focus of these algorithms is particularly on the combination of user-friendliness, maximum availability and system efficiency. Our systems are also characterised by the high SKADEC quality standard. We mainly use components from renowned German manufacturers. This guarantees the availability of spare parts and ensures the required reliability.

We were one of the first to use natural refrigerants and have wanted to offer our customers what they need for more than 10 years:
Safe systems in terms of redundancy, sustainability and future-proof operation.
With an interdisciplinary team, the Kratschmayer Group begins research into the safe and efficient use of natural refrigerants with the aim of being able to offer future-proof chillers and heat pumps customised to the needs of its own customers.
With the development of an intelligent machine control system based on freely programmable controllers, our ideas and the experience we have gained in 20 years of practical experience can be implemented in intelligent control algorithms. The focus is on increasing efficiency and maximising machine availability. A dedicated test stand is set up for testing purposes.
SKADEC GmbH was founded for the further development, sales and establishment as a system supplier. Successful projects and good feedback have prompted the Kratschmayer Group to also allow colleagues from the specialised trade to benefit from the machine development.
Right from the start, we set ourselves the challenge of developing an R290 (propane) heat pump. Our successfully tested intelligent control algorithm ensures efficient and safe operation, even at low ambient temperatures.
Shortly after SKADEC GmbH was founded, we had our own stand at Chillventa 2018 in Nuremberg. That was the starting signal for us. Many interesting contacts were made and the name SKADEC became known for the first time.
With the new location of our sales office in the North / West region, we would like to strengthen our expertise and improve proximity to our customers with a highly experienced engineer.
In over 400 completed projects, 75 MW of cooling capacity with natural refrigerants have been installed since the first start-ups, resulting in savings of 17,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
At its stand at Chillventa 2022, Skadec showcased a new type of 4-pipe R290 heat pump and a compact chiller with a very low refrigerant charge of R290, which can be installed inside a building in accordance with legal safety precautions to meet the growing requirements of various industries.
ISH 2023 was a complete success for SKADEC and once again reaffirms our commitment to continuing our course with natural refrigerants and further research into pioneering technologies.
The presentations with up-to-date information on refrigerants, concepts and application examples on propane installations, operator obligations and innovative collection systems were of great added value for all listeners. Afterwards, there was time for questions from the floor or for 1:1 discussions during a panel discussion.
In 2024, there were and are many good reasons to celebrate in all six companies of the Kratschmayer Group. In addition to a drink to mark the company’s 30th anniversary, the ground-breaking ceremony for two new buildings for the group, which SKADEC will use, also took place at the headquarters in Hohebuch (Waldenburg).
